Reflection: Week 3

This week we discussed different learning theories, teaching strategies, and how they can be integrated into the classroom through the use of different technologies. We began by reviewing a number of different Technology Integration Models; such as the SAMR model, the TPACK framework, and Constructive Alignment.

The SAMR model allowed us to analyze how a certain technology can substitute a previous practice, augment the students’ learning, modify the lesson, and redefine it by creating new tasks for the students to expand their learning.

The TPACK framework focuses on three types of knowledges that an instructor must combine to create an effective learning experience for students: content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, and technological knowledge.

Constructive Alignment deals with the purposeful connection between clearly stated learning outcomes, teaching strategies, and assessment practices and evaluations. Within the design for learning, teachers should also ensure that technology is appropriately integrated without overly increasing the cognitive load of the students.
